With the ever rising cost of fuel, how are your employees coping with the worries of affording to get to work and paying their household bills?
Fuel prices are certainly a worry for me and luckily I work from home, so I’m able to manage and control when I use the car. But what if I couldn’t work from home and had to travel every day? I know I would feel anxious about filling the car up and the price of putting food on the table.
So how can you support your employees financial wellbeing?
- Adopt a walk or cycle to work scheme for employees who live close by the work place.
- Adopt a car share scheme.
- Introduce hybrid working where at all possible.
- Ensure pay is a fair and liveable wage.
- Normalise conversations about money worries at work, and empower employees to support their own financial wellbeing.
- Sign post employees to the government’s Money & Pensions Service for free money and debt advice.
Above all, listen to employees worries and be understanding of their concerns. It will foster feelings of being heard, valued and engaged with your business, which positively impacts on performance, attendance and retention.
